Has anyone used this new tool yet for powder painting their jigheads? I like the concept of it...

Yes I have a FB3 fluid bed and it works great. Just buy a cup for each color and you are ready to go. I paint hundreds of spinnerbaits and jigs this way. I use a little propane torch like what plumbers use on low flame to heat the lure, it does not take much. Then I dip the lure in the paint bed no more than a second, pull out. If the lure smokes it was to hot. The lure should glaze over slowly. If it looks a little dull thats fine it should glaze over when you bake it. Then I hang them to dry. Remember the thinner the coat the better it will look. I went to wally world and bought the cheapest toaster oven they had $18, besure to hang the lures from apiece of wire or dowel don't use the tray take it right out. Bake at 350 for 15 minute presto all done. I dont know how much you have done with powder paint ,but make sure to clean any paint out of the hook eyes or off the hook before you bake them. This will save alot of swearing on your part. This tool works great for single lures if you want larger runs of jig heads I would buy a clamp setup or make one and get a longer fluid bed. Hope this helps. If you need any help with the painting process just ask. It takes a little practice and tinkering with stuff but is well worth it.

Where did you buy it from? I found one like it for half the price @ TJ's Tackle and was wondering if it was the same thing or is the FB-3 better?

I got mine from Janns Netcraft. I looked at the one on TJ'S and it looks the same. Good luck. If any one has any other ideas or hints on powder paint please share. I'm always keeping my ears open for new and improved ways of painting.

Actually DO-IT molds sell the FB-3 cheaper.... Jann's prices are high you might want to shop around before buying from them.

I have been looking for some close up pics of one of these for the last few days. None around the net.
What does the bottom of the cup actually look like? Seems one can make one out of some PVC a small live well pump and an attached micro valve a $5.00 Item at your local hardware store. It beats paying 50 or 100 dollars for one !!! Money saved can always go back in to Powder paint <LOL>

Here is a place that you can buy them www.tjstackle.com and here is how they are made http://www.rockbottomlures.com/Tournaments.html
Thats pretty cool
isnt that like an air pump from a fish tank, you can get those little fish tank valves for around a buck.
A live well pump wont pump air.
Ive done some powder painting for jig heads but the heat and dip way. from looking at it and semi understanding this process you could probally do it for about 20 bucks
a fish store will have everything you need and your wife will have the other item.
fish store:
air pump
air line
air valve
airline connector
from your wife
tupperware with lid
take the tupper ware container and punch a small hole into the bottom, 1/2 inch from the top. then shove the air connector in there. you can seal it will epoxy or silacon.
about an inch from the top punch a hole into both sides and slide a scewer through it. this would be to hold you hooks( kinda like a rack)
Thats cool I will have to try it out since I fish lots of jigs.
