excess plastic?

i am new at this and i first tried it the other night. what i am having a problem with is the pouring process. i am getting ready to order a melting pot for easier pouring. however when pouring do i need to have it just level to the top, or pour excess. if i have to pour excess, how do i get rid of the excess plastic on the bait.

Yes, I fill it to the top. Almost like overflowing it. Then I let them sit for around 5 min. or so, and just use a knife to cut the excess off. I haven't tried a melting pot just a Pyrex cup and a microwave.

What are you pouring?
If its stiks, you will need to top up, just cut off the extra and remelt it, I reuse everthing

As far as your pouring problem, how are you heating your plastic?
