i hear about a lot of people catching huge fish on the california delta drop shotting. i was hoping you guys had some insight on what type of tackle they use. considering the body of water and size of fish there i am guessing they are not using light line and nose hooked 4 in worms. any help would be great.
George.
sorry for the late info. I will tell you what I heard
Dropping shotting big worms 7-14" on big hooks 2/0 - 4/0 20lb test is being used.
big senkos and ripbaits are being used.
most of the guys I know are using big bulky baits both in jigs and worms.
There are alot of guys tossing big crank baits( shallow ones) and some guys throwing swimbaits( gold and brown colors).
If I here anymore I will let you know.
do the same thing you do in the river here in AZ and you will be fine. dont forget big brush hogs and frogs. they work also.
one of my buddies bought a bunch of frogs before he left today for the delta.

i was planning on throwing a spook in the morning and then once the sun was up high switch to a bronze eye frog (i bought two of every color, i love frog fishing). other than that i was going to throw senkos and flip some huge tubes that i found (they are the ones ish monroe used on amistad). other than that i will just kind of adapt to whatever the conditions call for. i also stocked up on some 1/2 oz. spinnerbaits for the delta.
