This is my first post and looking for more answers than any.
I am fairly new to the fishing tackle industry but am an expert in 3D cad animation and design. I am looking to produce a custom crankbait body mold (hard plastic) with figure 8 hangars (5) inside the body. I have so many questions.

Would this be a custom 2 piece mold made from Del-Mart?
What is the pricing?
What are the different plastics for a harder shell?
I have a prototype from 3D model.
Should the prototype contain the figure 8 hangars as part of the prototype for the mold?

We dont do hard bait molds, they run on a completely differnt injection machine with extreamly highpressures.

a typicle mold for a crankbait would run in the 10,000-25,000 dollar range(based on what I have heard from guys that do hard plastic injection.
They are generally made out of tool steel to withstand the high pressures and they must have a mirror finish on them.

Greg Cole has alot of experiance with injection like that (he is a member on this board)

Yes, a hard plastic bait mold is a whole different ballgame then what Dell makes and sells. Price will be based on the detail of the bait and the size of the plates it takes to mount it in the press. Finding a place to build the mold is no problem, finding a company willing to allow you to run it in there quarter million dollar press is. If you do not have any connections in the industry, then your best bet would be to find a little custom molding shop and asked them if they are willing to quote you some pieces. If you would like any help just let me know. As far as the 3D model, thats great, places can create the mold from that.
