I'm building a pressure pot and need some help.
does anyone has experiance with heating elements to heat up a pressure pot ?
i would like to have a accurate & adjustable temperature controller.
at the moment i use a presto pot look-a-like with a gas stove but in future it will be difficult to fill up the molds at the bottom near the flames

I read this on the Wenesco website :
thermoplastics heated best using convection type heating elements and low-watt density band heaters

The wenesco melters are also heated at the bottem but that would be difficult because i need to fill up the molds at the bottom...

Should it be necessary to heat the bottom ?

any advice or pictures with parts would be very helpfull

band heaters are the best, its not necc. to heat the bottom.
dotn use anything for a pressure pot except a real pressure pot, All american are the best ones made, there is no plastic and the alum is a good thickness.
you also get everything you need with minimal amount of work.

the top is thick and held on by thick alum tabs versus plastic. NEVER USE a plastic presure pot.

to do it correctly you will need to have some alum welded Not necc but well worth it.

Thermal Corp sells great heat bands there number is 1 800 633 2962, dont forget you will need a thermostat as well

it seems like it's very difficult to find a pressure cooker outside the USA
i have found many cookers in Usa but they won't send them to Europe
I have found a cooker near my place, 15 quart in Stanless Steel and the price was near 500 dollar
as far as i know it should be aluminum and not stanless steel for heating plastic
i will keep searching...

i decide'd to make a pressure pot myself because i can't find i anywhere in my neighborhood
so i buy'd a big pot, don't have it yet
know i discovered it's metal with a very stong white coating, very smooth surface
so its not aluminum...should it work with metal ??
i will place band-heaters round the pot and place a mixer in it
should i have problems with burning plastic ??
i would like to know before i do some welding work to get a perfect closing top

if its not alum or stainless you have no way to weld it. I am sure its a ceramic coating of some wort so drilling is going to be a tad hard to do, maybe a tile drill or glass drill will work.

you can have a problem burning any plastic in anything. the important parts are a mixer and a good quality heating band with thermostat.

15 quarts is a big pot if you get the sizes of the box from american pressure cooker and the weight april can check on shipping to you but I am sure it will be costly and we might not beable to get insurance on it thats why they might not be able to ship it?
